The Khoemacau Copper Mine Teco Slipring Motor was decommissioned by the customer and transported to the Delba works in Springs for a complete major overhaul of the entire motor including the stator, rotor and cooler.
Prior to the overhaul of the motor the entire plant was out of commission for a considerable time period. Parallel on-site operations to restore the plant to a fully operational condition was being carried out by the customer.
The refurbishment of all related components was carried out whilst our resource capabilities were caught up in a sensitive, tiring and cautious Covid 19 world-wide pandemic. Suppliers, materials and operations were carefully managed to accurately assess, repair and successfully return the unit to site for final commissioning.
The Delba Field Services team provided the necessary on-site assistance to commission the motor successfully. The on-site work also included the complete overhaul of the Liquid Resistance Starter.
The unit was dispatched to site on 21 September 2020.
